A Bright And Hopeful Smile: A Senior Shelter Dog Is Finally Going Home To A Loving Family

A Bright And Hopeful Smile: A Senior Shelter Dog Is Finally Going Home To A Loving Family

Belle Ava March 7, 2021

The hard and sad reality in animal shelters is that senior dogs are almost always left behind. This may be because of the usual perception that old dogs require a lot of maintenance, which is not always the case. Fortunately, some golden-hearted people understand the plight of senior dogs and their compassion inspires them to adopt these pups.

Just when a senior dog named Sonny thinks that no one will want him, a young woman named Kathryn LaRoche comes along. And the prospect of having a permanent home seems to put Sonny in an almost perpetual smiling state.

Thanks to people like Kathryn

Kathryn is very much different from other animal lovers and adopting fur parents. While some adopting families are drawn to younger pets, she is much more interested in older animals. In fact, she used to own a 20-year-old cat.

One day, she came across Sonny via the website of the animal shelter named Indy Humane. When Kathryn found Sonny, she knew he was the one for him.

Kathryn’s cat already passed away, and she was living alone in the middle of an ongoing pandemic. Sonny happened to be at the right time, as Kathryn was planning to adopt another older furbaby.

Sonny feels all the love

Once Kathryn was decided, she prepared her house for the arrival of the dog. She wanted to make sure that Sonny would feel at home right away.

Kathryn picked Sonny at the shelter and while on their way home, she noticed that the dog was smiling from ear to ear. It seemed that Sonny appreciated Kathryn’s willingness to give him a second chance in life. It also seemed that the dog was feeling all the love being given to him. Indeed, he was grateful for the new life that awaits him.

The new owner wasted no time, so she immediately captured the moment with her camera. Check out the video below to see Sonny’s wonderful smile.
