If you show your dog genuine love and attention, you will be rewarded with loyalty no one can ever break. It also doesn’t matter what breed that dog is – they all have that capacity to grant and return affection to those that treat them right. Some dogs have terrible reputations, like the Pit Bull, but dogs are merely a reflection of how they have been treated as they grow up. With proper training, no creature can be a more wonderful companion and family member.
At the start of the 1900s, Pit Bulls were the preferred choice of animal for most American homes. But because they are known to be very loyal and protective, some people have trained them to become fighters. That, and the rise of the dangerous and profoundly inhumane dogfighting, has given Pit Bulls a lousy reputation.
Inseparable since birth
Slowly, Pit Bulls are now shedding their bad-boy image. More and more videos and stories are coming out to show why they were once America’s favorite dogs. Like the story of Lacy and Karma. Lacy is a 6-year-old girl that was born with severe autism. She does not have verbal communication skills, but it doesn’t matter to her best friend.
Karma is an 85-pound 9-year-old red nose Pit Bull that has been kit the family even before Lacy was born. She was practically Lacy’s nanny. Karma was only 8-weeks-old when Lacy’s parents adopted her. She was also already there when Lacy was born.
Despite the lack of training as a therapy dog, Karma provided the companionship and friendship that Lacy needed. They didn’t need to talk to each other to know what the other wants or needs. Karma was always there when Lacy needed her as she grew up. They were inseparable, Karma, and Lacy practically did everything together. They slept and ate together, had fun and games together, and would discover the world together. Theirs is an extraordinary relationship that will no doubt last their whole lives.
