After His Deer Best Friend Left, This Pooch Commits To Looking Out For Every Fawn Her Mom Brings Into Their Farm

After His Deer Best Friend Left, This Pooch Commits To Looking Out For Every Fawn Her Mom Brings Into Their Farm

Belle Ava September 7, 2020

While most that have experienced being left by those dear to them become hesitant to enter new relationships, this doggy has done the opposite! His name is Sarge, and this is his story.

Cheryl Stephen, his owner, shares that actually, things with him had been much different before. Sarge used to be a quiet and aloof type. And he tended to scare other animals away on their farm until this creature happened to get into Cheryl’s care – Buckwheat, the deer!

Sarge’s friendly side then started to emerge. And now he was becoming more active and seemed to always want to get involved when it comes to caring for the fawn, to the point that he would block other pooches that tried to get close to Buckwheat!

That’s how overly possessive he was. We couldn’t really blame him when his BFF is such a darling!

However, just as how we humans can’t continue holding onto someone forever, there came a time when Sarge needed to release her as well. And it was when Buckwheat had to go back to the wilds already!

For sure it hurt and Cheryl expected that after that, Sarge would go back his old self – quiet and cold. But strangely, it appeared as if he became livelier and more open.

Whenever a new fawn arrives into Cheryl’s farm for rehabilitation, Sarge would take it upon himself to give it the warmest greetings. As Cheryl adds, every time he spots her carrying in her arms a baby deer or an injured one, he would spring to Cheryl and then go nosing around like an excited sibling, eager to meet the new addition to their family.

Right now, it’s become clear to Cheryl that Sarge had committed himself to be the best big bro he can be for all the fawns they take in, and as a mom who had witnessed how devastating it went for him when Buckwheat left his side, Cheryl couldn’t be gladder.

Sure, anyone who had gone through such experience knows how hard that must have been, so, seeing him like this every day we bet is a proud moment for her.

Great job, Sarge. We admire your courage!
