Milly and Tonka are rescue pit bulls that were adopted by a kind Australian woman named Madeline Mills. She works as a paramedic for the Queensland Ambulance Service and absolutely adores dogs. Tonka is her latest rescue, and the puppy is just five months old.
When Milly met the new addition to the family, she immediately took the pup under her wing. She acted as her playmate, mentor, and surrogate mom. Tonka would always follow where the older pooch went and would emulate her actions.
Tonka could get too frisky at times, but the patient Milly would just tolerate his shenanigans. Her love for the little pup was very evident, especially when a venomous reptile tried to attack him.
Snake attack
Madeline was inside her house when she suddenly heard her dogs frantically barking. Her pets were playing in the yard as always. They were usually behaved and refrained from making a lot of noise, so she was concerned. The paramedic rushed out to see what was happening and was stunned to see Milly on the ground, lying on her side.
She then saw an Eastern brown snake slithering away from the two dogs. Milly knew how venomous that particular snake is. so he rushed her two dogs to an emergency vet. On the way to the clinic, she tried hard not to panic. She could see that Milly was showing signs of venom already.
Brave sister
Fortunately for Tonka, he didn’t sustain any bites. Milly, on the other hand, had several. They gave her antivenom and made the poor pooch stay in the clinic for four days. The vets said the snake would have most likely gone for the smaller pup. But his older sister probably got in between them and fought off the snake.
Milly fully recovered from the attack and was playing with Tonka soon after.
