Shannon Lorio grew up in South Georgia. She’s used to unusual roads and the dangers they pose for her. But one unlucky day, these roads made her life take a sharp turn.
After an argument with her husband, Shannon left the house in frustration and went inside her vehicle. She drove aimlessly while speeding.
When she arrived at the place they call “Nascar road,” she was doing fine. But after one wrong turn made her lose control of the driving wheel and instead plummeted to the forest, 100 feet away from the road.
Shannon suffered head trauma and lost sense of what was happening. She was in and out of consciousness.
When one time she woke up, she noticed a German Shepherd approaching her. It seems as though the concerned dog knew what was happening and knew that he had to act fast.
Shannon shared that when she woke up again, she noticed that her body was slowly dragged away from the car. For the first time after becoming conscious again, she took the courage to stand up and find help.
Her weak body brought her to the main road. Luckily, a vehicle passing by saw her and helped contact her husband and an ambulance.
Shannon suffered multiple injuries and head trauma, but with ER treatment and proper medication, she survived. She also named the dog Hero.
She is truly grateful for meeting the German Shepherd who saved her life. If it hadn’t for him, she would’ve died.
She’s also happy that the dog is finally in a shelter home and currently training to become a rescue dog – a job that is well suited for him. Well, we wish you all the best, Shannon and Hero!
