The Robledo family had a car servicing appointment at Honda in New Rochelle, New York when their three-year-old Shih Tzu, Charlie, was run over by a car on Main Street. Cindy Robledo, the dog’s fur mom, was horrified to see her precious baby getting into an accident. The dog was whimpering in pain.
Thankfully, Honda’s general manager, James Gallagher, was on duty that day. He immediately acted after seeing the devastating incident. He was worried that the dog might run over again by other passing cars. James stopped the cars and picked the poor dog.
James also sensed that the fur mom couldn’t concentrate on the road to drive the dog to the nearest vet clinic. He volunteered to drive for the whole family so that they would concentrate on calming their four-legged member.
At the clinic, the family was devastated to learn the cost of Charlie’s medication and treatment. Charlie needed emergency surgery to save his life. Sadly, the Robledo family did not have enough funds to pay for the expenses that Charlie would incur. Also, they recently lost their home due to financial setbacks.
The Robledo family needs at least $14,000 for Charlie’s treatment.
After learning about the Robledo family’s financial situation, James volunteered to pay for the cost of Charlie’s treatment. The Robledo family promised to pay James as soon as they had recovered from their losses, but James refused. He requested the family to pay it forward instead. James clearly understood how it was to have nothing, and he didn’t want a dog to die simply because of financial setbacks.
Moreover, James opened a GoFundMe account for Charlie to cover the recovery expenses and therapy.
Thanks to James’ kind heart, Charlie is saved! He is currently recovering, but he is greatly suffered from neurological and spinal damages. The family is hoping that Charlie will be able to walk again.
