While there are plenty of animal lovers across the globe, we have to admit that animal cruelty is still a pretty major issue everywhere. Among the hundreds and thousands of dogs maltreated, this adorable Pomeranian stands out, basically because he was abandoned for the pettiest reason of all.
Bertram, as his owner fondly calls him, was left at five months old to fend for himself after the breeder decided that he was just too huge of a Pom to sell. Fortunately, the pooch immediately stole the heart of Kathy Grayson, an artist in New York, when she found him on the adoption site, Petfinder.
Bertie was initially listed as “Jasper,” but Kathy just knew that he was a Bertram, so she renamed the adorable pooch. Kathy was just so in love with the big Pomeranian that she booked a ticket to Tulsa and personally went to the shelter to bring him home to New York.
The shelter who took Bertie in was pretty sad that he got adopted, but they were excited for the pup’s new adventures with his new owner. Kathy owns an art gallery in the city, and with the help of Bertie, the gallery has gained quite the attention.
The pooch wasted no time in winning everybody’s hearts, both in the real world and online. In fact, his Instagram page boasts of 382k followers, making him one of the social media platform’s well-loved canines. What sets Bertie apart from the other pooches is his iconic bow-tie style, which is totally adorable.
His art gallery, The Hole, is free for everybody and encourages dog owners to bring their pet doggies to meet the famous Bertram. Kathy, on the other hand, was not surprised at the pup’s sudden online fame at all. She mentioned that Bertram’s personality was enough to captivate the hearts of the netizens, and she hopes to inspire others to rescue dogs as well.
