Most of us believe that dogs and cats can never get along. However, this isn’t exactly true. A dog’s attitude towards cats depends on how well their owners socialize and expose them to other animals.
A dog named Cheeky surprised her human mom when she did something truly heartwarming for a stray cat. Cheeky is a senior dog who just loves taking care of small animals. Whenever her mom brings home kittens to foster Cheeky would always get excited and show her sweet and nurturing personality.
She would act like an adoptive parent for the tiny kittens by making them feel safe and protected. Cheeky’s mom always thought about adopting one of the kittens she fosters but she never really had the chance since all of them gets adopted. However, everything changed one day when a stray cat started visiting their home because of the food they leave out on the porch.
Although the stray cat did welcome the food left outside Cheeky’s home, she was very cautious around humans. She always avoided getting caught and avoided humans as if her life depended on it. However, thanks to the free food that Cheeky’s parents left outside, the stray cat decided to stay.
It wasn’t long until the cat decided to climb over the fence and into the backyard. However, she didn’t expect a dog to be on the other side and was startled. She ended up scratching Cheeky on her nose. While most of us would expect that Cheeky would get angry and end up chasing the stray cat away, Cheeky did the exact opposite. She was more determined to become friends with the stray cat.
It took a while for the stray cat to warm up to Cheeky but when she got used to Cheeky being around, she eventually realized that there was nothing to fear. Cheeky’s parents were even surprised when they found Cheeky and the stray cut cuddling on their porch.
Seeing that Cheeky made a friend, they decided to adopt the stray cat and named her Sushi. Cheeky and Sushi became inseparable. Wherever Cheeky went, Sushi would always shadow her. Here’s a video featuring Cheeky and Sushi’s friendship and how they ended up becoming best friends.
