Anxious Dog That Didn’t Trust Anyone Finally Finds The Perfect Family He Can Call His Own

Anxious Dog That Didn’t Trust Anyone Finally Finds The Perfect Family He Can Call His Own

Belle Ava July 30, 2023

Fostering rescue dogs is not easy. Most of these dogs have been through a lot in life that they find it hard to trust humans. Some may have been physically abused by their former owners so much that they would tremble in fear whenever someone comes near them.

When a dog named Chips Ahoy first came to her foster family, she was a complete mess. She was distrustful of everyone and would refuse to eat. She was so anxious about being around humans it broke her foster mom’s heart.

Chips Ahoy’s foster mom, Julie, refused to give up on Chips Ahoy. She knew that it would take a lot of time to win Chips Ahoy’s trust and that she just needs to find something that will help her win her trust.

The first breakthrough was finding out the treat she liked. Julie found out that Chips Ahoy enjoyed the Kong peanut butter treat placed inside a Kong dog toy. The second breakthrough was Julie’s husband, Brendan.

Brendan would always pet Chips Ahoy and ended up becoming the very first person that Chips Ahoy trusted. She followed Brendan everywhere he went, even to the bathroom. Chips Ahoy would always sit under Brendan’s work chair or up against his feet.

For the first time in her life, Chips Ahoy felt safe. Eventually, Julie believed that Chips Ahoy was finally ready to find her forever home. Although she was sad to say goodbye, she was also excited for her when they found a family willing to adopt her.

Unfortunately, Chips Ahoy was returned to them two days later. Julie was told that Chips Ahoy was “too much work” and didn’t even consider giving her a chance. Chips Ahoy only needed time to adjust.

Julie and Brendan eventually realized that they can never give Chips Ahoy to another home. Chips Ahoy already found her forever home. Julie and her husband decided to adopt her for good. Here’s a video featuring Chips Ahoy’s story.
