Mackenzie, the blind Husky, was only ten weeks old when she found her forever home. Her vision may not be perfect, but she is a healthy dog. However, her sight continued to deteriorate when she developed glaucoma that affected both her eyes. Despite the efforts of Mackenzie’s fur mom, Mandy Leung, to keep her eyes healthy, her condition got worse.
Leung decided to have her beloved dog’s eyes removed to get rid of the pain. While it was a tough transition, Mackenzie adjusted quickly. She didn’t even realize she was already blind based on her priceless reaction when she sensed snow. Despite losing her eyesight at a young age, adapting to a new life without her vision was not a problem.
With the use of her nose, she was able to get around. She did not let her disability get in the way. Her playful nature even made her more appealing to humans. She also loves to play with other dogs and run around in the snow. Leung also liked taking Mackenzie to new places like hiking trails, dog parks, and many others.
She might not see the stunning scenery but could smell and absorb the different scents. While she has always liked outdoor adventures, any place with snow is her favorite. She feels relaxed and quiet whenever there is snow. Leung even shared her video where she was filled with excitement as she ran in circles around the yard covered in snow.
She definitely would if given a chance to play all day. She likes to spend hours playing in the snow, and whenever her fur mom wants her to come inside, she usually feels disappointed. Mackenzie is the epitome of positivity because she became much happier than ever instead of feeling sad for losing sight. She serves as an inspiration to many.
