Mohammad Atta, one of the Al Queda terrorists, and the other four hijackers hijacked American Airlines and crashed it into the World Trade Center Building. It happened on the 11th day of September 2001 at 8:46 am.
A giant dust cloud covered all directions and scattering of falling debris. This event had a traumatic effect on the people inside the establishment.
Michael Hingson, a blind businessman, was on the 78th floor of Tower 1. During that time, they were preparing for the finalization of the seminar together with his colleagues. Not long enough, the incident happened.
All of them panicked, aware that they would die at any time. Michael stayed calm despite the overwhelming threat. Also, he knew that they should avoid using the elevator and take the stairs instead.
Hingson’s labrador dog, Roselle, was very calm and contained. She leads the way and helps everyone without panicking. Roselle had one goal in mind: to escort everyone to safety.
Despite the giant smoke, they continue walking down stairway B, guided by Roselle. They noticed many undesirable smells, wounded people, the stairs’ difficulties, and their escapes. They continue walking until they reach a good, safe spot to rest.
The firefighters and the agents assisted all the survivors upon reaching the lobby. A lot of people were anxiously waiting on the streets. The building started to collapse, and all the glass shattered; they had no choice but to run for their lives.
The place kept on getting chaotic. Roselle continued to guide him until they arrived at the safe area of the subway station.
Both of them were safe. After the tragedy, Michael Hingson returned home to California and worked for Guide Dogs for the Blind. Hingson created several books to honor the story of his loyal companion.
