Animal Rescuers Dig Underground To Save A Stray Dog’s Pups

Animal Rescuers Dig Underground To Save A Stray Dog’s Pups

Belle Ava March 3, 2021

Galgos del Sol Animal Rescue received a call about a stray dog that needed to be rescued. It turns out that the pooch was living on the streets for almost two years and often ran away whenever someone tries to approach her.

Many people have attempted to catch the dog, but they have not been successful. One of the animal rescuers, Tina Solera, observed the stray pooch’s movements from afar noticed that the pup got pregnant and eventually gave birth.

Tina and her colleagues noticed that the mama dog must have dug a hole where she kept her puppies hidden because she always disappears at night. They knew they had to expedite their rescue mission because many lives are now at risk, so they decided to approach where the mama dog hid her babies.

The rescue team believes that the mama dog buried her puppies underground because she wanted to keep them safe. The pups stayed in the farthest corner of the hole, so they could not save them.

The animal workers observed from a distance and noticed that the puppies only came out of their hiding place during the day. However, the pups would immediately hide underground as soon as anybody approaches them.

Tina recalled that all puppies ran away when they first visited their hiding place except for a pup named Tootsie. Tootsie tried to run away, but she was slower than the rest because her left leg was deformed, so Tina and her colleagues did not have a hard time catching her.

Tina and her colleagues went back the following morning to rescue the other dogs despite being in the middle of intense summer heat. They dug underground and recovered seven healthy puppies, and saved the mama dog after setting a trap for her.

Tina shared that the seven puppies eventually found their fur-ever homes. Tina said that they are waiting for the right family to adopt the mama dog, so she will be in their care until they find a suitable home for her.
