The affection that dogs have for each other and for their human owners is unfathomable. But occasionally this love might be tested beyond one’s imagination.
Meet the two Pit Bull brothers who had an amazing adventure as they went trekking with their fur dad in the rugged Colorado mountains. When the coronavirus outbreak occurred in New York, dog owner Kristofer Busching took his two dogs, Tonka and Little P, to Colorado. They hiked and camped deep within the mountains.
As they ascended, Kristofer slipped and unfortunately fell to the ground with the dogs, where he perished instantly. Tonka’s leg was severely shattered, while Little P sustained minor injuries.
As loyal as they were, the two brothers refused to leave their father and remained with him. It was difficult for the rescuers to transport the dogs to the animal shelter, where they could receive treatment, but they succeeded.
The dogs were so afraid, confused, and couldn’t understand what was occurring. However, all was not lost because their love for one another sustained them.
The strong friendship between the dogs comforted them and enabled them to face their trials together. After the veterinarian repaired Tonka’s broken leg, he returned them to Long Island.
Tonka required twelve weeks to recuperate from the injuries, but Little P’s presence prevented that from occurring. Little P is really playful and enjoys bouncing around frequently. In order for Tonka’s leg to heal, the two had to be temporarily separated, per the veterinarian’s recommendation.
This was certainly one of the most difficult decisions the veterinarian had to make, given the impact it would have on both canines. However, having Little P around Tonka posed a greater threat than separation.
Tonka, Kristofer’s cousin, cared for Little P as a medical foster carer. Little P is doing well, but their biggest concern is Tonka. Tonka is ten years old and was adopted as a puppy by his father. It is unknown how he will overcome his traumatic experience.
The brothers’ placement in separate foster homes is just temporary, and they must be reunited as quickly as possible. They had already lost their father, and they cannot afford to lose each other as well.
Tonka and Little P are presently available for adoption via Mr. Bones & Co. They must be adopted together and be the only dogs in the household for them to receive the necessary care.
