On the peak of Buramsan in South Korea, a dog named Noorung traversed hazardous cliffs for years. He appeared to be a stray dog with no owner or caretaker. Thankfully, a woman climbed the mountain almost every day for two years to provide him with food and nourishment.
Even if the woman fed Noorung on a regular basis, he still did not feel safe eating in her presence. This is because of his great caution with people. Even the tiniest movement from the woman who was feeding him can terrify him.
The majority of the time, Noorung avoided humans who were hiking by hiding on a cliff. Yet, he also roamed the area, inspecting the faces of everyone that visits his home. According to the climbers who became acquainted with Noorung, he appeared to be looking for someone.
Several climbers feared for Noorung’s safety. They contacted the Korean Animal Welfare Association, the country’s largest non-profit animal protection organization.
Although Noorung avoided humans, he did not make his capture difficult for his rescuers. Noorung’s rescuers took him to a clinic, where they discovered he had heartworm. The veterinarian reported that he was free of cough and ascites enlargement. Hence, he was able to receive medications.
Noorung spent two years with the woman who fed him until he found a new family.
The new owner of the stray dog Noorung was so relieved that the dog had been saved. She was overtaken with emotion and unable to hold back her tears when she learned that the puppy may temporarily stay with her. Now, she can provide Noorung with the care and affection he presumably lacked throughout his years of solitude on the hazardous mountain.
Noorung, we hope you find your permanent home soon!
