Paul Murphy is a California resident who was dubbed a hero for his bravery and quick thinking.
This all happened when he was jogging in a neighborhood in Scotts Valley. He saw dark smoke coming from a residence, and it seemed no one else noticed it. He jogged to the front door and rang their doorbell. The residents weren’t home, and when it was made known to him that animals’ lives were in danger, he did not hesitate to save them.
The ring camera captured his heroic act. It was shared online and captured the interest of numerous people.
Save my pets
After pushing the ring doorbell several times, a recorded message started playing. It said the homeowners weren’t there, and he could leave his own message. The jogger couldn’t figure out what to do next. But then, a voice came out of the doorbell speakers once again, and this time, it was not a recording.
As it turned out, Courtney Polito, the homeowner, was alerted of someone ringing her doorbell and called back. Paul immediately informed her that smoke was coming out of her home. Stunned, she told the kind man that her pets were inside the house and asked if he could please save them. She had two dachshunds, a rabbit, and a cat.
Paul asked for her home security code so he could enter the house. A few moments later, the video of the rescue showed the jogger going out to the front yard with an armful of creatures. Soon after, a firetruck arrived.
Grateful
Courtney was so thankful to Paul for saving her pets and her home. Firefighters told them later that if Paul had been 10 minutes late in letting the homeowner know of the fire, the house would have totally burned to the ground. His quick action limited the flames to the living room.
In an interview, Courtney said he would give Paul anything he wanted, even her own life, for what he had done. Her two dogs were her babies and meant so much to her.
