One small dog saved the life of her owner after their home in Tangerine, Florida unexpectedly burned in flames one very early morning. Her insistent barking woke him up and got him out of the house just in time.
According to the owner of the house, Joel Rosa, his dog named Maggie woke him up around three in the morning. She was continuously barking and then he woke up and heard a noise on the roof. And so, he came outside from the porch upstairs and then looked outside. There he saw a really scary fire engulfing the right side of his house.
In the beginning, he thought that he could stop it himself even from the outside. But the fire was already too big to be stopped without help. Firefighters quickly arrived at their home and immediately worked on defensive mode to stop the fire from spreading.
Unfortunately, the fire had already spread up to the roof of the second floor and one side had already partially collapsed. Upon initial investigation, the firefighters believed that a lightning strike from the storm that hit the county a day before hit the house. And then it festered around the roof igniting a fire.
Lisa McDonald, the Orange County Fire rescue’s spokesperson, also mentioned that it was a 7,000 square foot home. It was a very large home and about 80 percent of the home had already been engulfed in flames. That is, it was only a matter of time before the room where Rosa slept would be burning as well and he should be thankful for his dog for waking him up.
And Rosa was indeed full of gratitude for Maggie. For him, it was just so amazing that they were able to get out of the house just in time. She definitely saved his life and she was his little hero.
