Politics is a tricky subject where someone wins, but no one readily admits to losing. However, a municipality in Colorado recently had an unusual but successful election where the winner got a unanimous victory. No one could find any fault or complain about their newly elected honorary mayor.
Georgetown’s new mayor is none other than Parker, the Snow Dog. The two years old Bernese mountain dog is a well-loved local celebrity known for his charitable works in the area. He has been the famous mascot of the Loveland Ski Area. Still, his primary work is being a therapy dog for the Easterseals of Rocky Mountain Village, where he proudly assists the disabled children at the camp.
His dad, Dustin Schaefer, took to social media Parker’s accomplishments to gain more following. The canine’s Instagram page is full of amazing photos of the adorable pooch helping others and doing cool stuff such as watching Broncos games and chilling at ski areas. Parker loves getting all the love and attention and lives for the spotlight that Dustin does not hesitate to share Parker’s activities to the world.
With all his impressive credentials, Dustin knew that Parker could become the ambassador for Colorado State. But they could settle for him becoming a mayor first, so Dustin went and made posters to campaign for Parker’s candidacy. As soon as the word went out, Parker became the favorite candidate.
Without a doubt, Parker won and was soon elected honorary mayor. He looked all spiffy during the acceptance ceremony with his necktie and square glasses. All the Selectmen of Georgetown were also proud of him and are hopeful for his future contribution to their city. Georgetown is lucky to have an affectionate and adorable honorary mayor, and hopefully, other cities will soon elect their own charming doggy mayors!
