It was a regular day at an animal sanctuary when its director, Sher Polvinale, received a call. The caller was a woman asking for help regarding three Chihuahuas.
The three dogs were 15-year-old Bella and her two sons, Hudson and Ciroc, who were both 13 years of age. According to the caller, the trio’s owner was her brother, who died recently. She brought the trio to her house; however, they didn’t get along with her other dogs.
Moreover, the caller was also in the middle of some family problems and could not devote some time to the three Chihuahuas. The sanctuary’s director could hear the woman’s desperation and wanted to help her find a place for the Chihuahuas to go — but that was until the caller revealed her next step.
The caller suddenly broke down crying and told Polvinale that she had already made an appointment for euthanasia for the three dogs the afternoon that very day! And it was already nearly noon when she called.
Fortunately, the woman’s daughter had suggested that she Google sanctuaries for senior dogs as a last resort before going to the said appointment.
Upon hearing that, Polvinale told her to cancel the appointment and drive the trio to the sanctuary immediately. Despite living over an hour away, the caller agreed, and not long after, Bella, Hudson, and Ciroc were in the care of the animal sanctuary.
The woman seemed thrilled upon seeing the sanctuary and happy that the senior trio would have people equipped to care for them. Upon their arrival, the three dogs seemed a bit nervous; fortunately, by the following morning, the trio were already settling in.
According to Polvinale, the three Chihuahuas are all sweet; however, they need lots of medical attention. As it turns out, Bella has an enlarged heart and severe dental disease, Hudson has a bad heart condition, gallstones, and dental disease, while Ciroc has dental disease and an ear infection.
The pet sanctuary will rely on people’s donations to get the trio all the care they need. Until then, they are enjoying being at the shelter with their rescuers.
