Grandpa Builds A Custom-Made Ramp For Their Family’s Senior Dog

Grandpa Builds A Custom-Made Ramp For Their Family’s Senior Dog

Belle Ava October 13, 2020

People often mistake Daisy as a little puppy because of how energetic and playful she is. However, Rachel Johnson always tells anybody who asks her pup’s age that their Yorkie/Lhasa Apso mix is actually a 10-year-old senior pup.

Daisy enjoys going out for runs along the river near her human family’s house. Daisy also spends her afternoons chasing pigeons in their garden, but her active lifestyle suddenly changed when she suddenly started having difficulties with walking.

Daisy has been having a bit of trouble with her back as she’s getting on a bit so Pete Johnson built her a ramp (I helped a bit)!!! We used bits of an old dressing table and the screws from it so didn’t even spend any money!!

Rachel and her dad, Peter, rushed Daisy to the animal clinic to have her examined. The pup’s x-ray results showed that Daisy has an issue with one of the discs in her back, which caused tremendous pain.

Rachel and Peter were told that their senior puppy’s age was finally starting to appear. The father and daughter pair started thinking that their beloved pup might need a ram at home at some point in time but eventually decided that it would be best for Daisy to have it now.

Rachel shared that Daisy spends her time snuggled warmly on her dad’s bed whenever she is not out and about. Peter said that Daisy sleeps beside him and stays there, especially when he has to go out for errands.

Peter said that Daisy loves snuggling and the coziness of his bed. However, jumping on the mattress suddenly became too taxing for Daisy’s little body because of her deteriorating health, so he decided to step in and do something for his precious dog.

Peter understands the pain of having a bad hip because he was also going through the same thing. Peter knew how important it is for his beloved dog to have access to her favorite spot at home, so he built her a custom-made ramp that would get her to his bed.

Rachel shared that her parents quickly redecorated their bedroom to accommodate Daisy. Daisy took a while before realizing what the ramp was for, and she looked so happy that getting to her favorite spot will not cause her any discomfort.
