There was once a stray dog who lived a difficult life on the streets of Philadelphia. Later on, the same dog became an Internet star, thanks to the family who took care of her during a storm.
A Twitter post from Jack Jokinen revealed that the dog sought shelter in their house during a storm. The back door blew open which allowed the dog to get in. Jack’s family didn’t know that a dog went inside the house; they only realized it the following day.
Jack and his wife, Emily, were confused about how the dog got inside the house. They reviewed the security camera, and it was revealed that the back door was left unlocked accidentally at around 3 a.m.
Jack thought of the things that could’ve made the dog picked their home as her shelter for the night. He thought that it could’ve been the light, the smell of their other dog, George, or simply the dog was only looking for a temporary place to stay.
Jack and his wife noticed that the dog looked scared, malnourished, and hurt. She was limping when she walked. They thought that surrendering the dog to animal control might not be a good idea for the poor dog, so they have decided to take care of the dog instead.
Jack named the dog Suzy.
Jack brought Suzy to the animal hospital for a medical check. Apart from being malnourished, Suzy was also suffering from dental problems, injured paw pads, and tick and flea infestation. The vet also determined her age to be at around 7-9 years old.
It was also found out that Suzy didn’t have any microchips, so people assumed that she was destined to become Jack’s dog. A lot of people had donated via Venmo for Suzy’s care, and surprisingly, Jack and Emily were able to raise more than $15,000. They planned to donate the excess money to charities to help other dogs in need too.
Jack continually posts updates about Suzy on Twitter. Updates about Suzy can also be found on her own Instagram and Facebook accounts.
Suzy, you indeed found the right door that day!
