A local animal rescue group named Hope For Paws was contacted with an urgent request to help a dog living in terrible conditions. The rescuers, Eldad Hagar and Loreta Frankonyte, immediately contacted the relevant authorities and arranged the rescue. They met with the dog owner’s landlord who accompanied them to the property and granted permission to secure the animal.
Upon entering the premises, the dog greeted the rescuers and the landlord warmly. Eldad and Loreta quickly realized the severity of the situation when they saw how dirty and matted the dog’s fur had become. They knew that immediate action was needed to bring the dog in for urgent grooming and potentially even necessary medical attention.
Loreta approached the animal cautiously but firmly, offering it food to gain its trust. The dog remained wary, keeping a distance from the rescuers. The animal started trusting Loreta more after it ate the bits of cheeseburger she provided, but it still avoided the Lucky Leash that the rescuer tried to secure it with. Since the dog was avoiding the Lucky Leash, Loreta tried securing it using a gentle snare. She expertly looped the snare around the animal in her first attempt. Although the dog resisted at first, the rescuers eventually succeeded in securing it with a Lucky Leash and carried it out of the property.
Eldad and Loreta thanked the landlord for her help and readied the dog for transport. They quickly drove to the local medical facility to have the animal checked out. The rescuers wanted to make sure that its heavily-matted fur did not hide any injuries before they started grooming it.
The doctors at the hospital thankfully cleared the dog for grooming, so Loreta started to carefully shave off the animal’s heavily-matted fur. Fellow rescuer Katie McKittrick helped her as the amount of fur that needed shaving proved quite challenging. Once the two women finished grooming the dog, the animal looked unrecognizable from before.
After determining that the dog is a female, the rescuers decided to name it Noelle. They chose that name since Noelle’s rescue coincided with the holiday season. The animal couldn’t have received a better gift than getting a fresh start in time for the holidays.
Local foster home Foxy and The Hounds graciously took Noelle in as a foster. Noelle started getting used to a better life with her foster family. She now looks forward to finding her perfect forever home.
